First off, before I go into what you need to drink to get you shithoused tonight, I want to thank the guys at Days of Y’Orr for allowing me to write my nonsense on their blog. Justin, Jon and Pizz are good dudes who run a fantastic Bruins blog. Check it out, bookmark it, RSS feed it and enjoy because their stuff is gold, Jerry!
Tonight the Bruins welcome the Minnesota Wild into the TD Garden for a one game home-stand before they go back on the road. Boston is coming off of a 2-1 win in Toronto that saw Tuukka Rask play solid between the pipes. Nathan Horton and Marc Savard both score in the game and Boston took 8 out of 10 possible points on the 5 game road trip.
Minnesota currently sits at twelfth in the Western Conference with 43 points. They are coming off of a 2-1 win over a pathetic Devils team. Minnesota is led offensively by Martin Havlat, who is tops on the Wild with 35 points.
So when you’re sitting down to watch this game – what should you drink? Gameday Brew #3 said you should drink Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA. Tonight we’ll go with something a little more sweeter. Our gameday brew today is Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock.
Bock is a term for a stronger lager of German origin. See, I teach you things! So lets talk about the Chocolate Bock for a minute. When (if) you pour the beer into a glass, you’ll see that it is a very dark (almost chocolate looking) color [see pic above]. The head from the beer is a thin tan color and takes a little bit to dissolve.
When you drink this beer you’ll get an overwhelming taste of chocolate with a mild taste of roasted nuts. Now this beer is very sweet and if you can not stand sweeter tasting beers then this beer is not for you.
This beer is definitely a “dessert” beer, but drinking a 6-pack of it wouldn’t bother your taste buds. I say anything of the 6 and you’ll probably get sick of this beer pretty quickly. Either way, it is worth the try.
You can get this beer in two different ways. The first is the Sam Adams Winter Classics pack which also has Boston Lager, Winter Lager, White Ale, Holiday Porter and Old Fezziwig Ale. The second is via 6-pack. The Chocolate Bock is only sold throughout the winter time and should be taken off of shelves around May.
With that said, tip your glass tonight and enjoy some hockey.
